International Projects




WMC has provided site development services for sites in countries across multiple Continents.  These projects have included US Embassies in Africa,  Europe, and Asia. Additional international projects were performed for Federal clients in locations that are required to remain confidential.  All of these projects required that extensive security measures be in place in order to assure safety for personnel and visitors.

US Embassy Annex Office Building (NOX) 
Moscow, Russia

WMC is part of the design team tasked to provide comprehensive A/E design services
for a new US Embassy Annex Office Building in Moscow, Russia.  Due to the nature of this project the exact location and certain details must remain confidential.   

Design is being performed after initial planning and feasibility study that was prepared by others. This annex will be developed on a site that requires the demolition of some existing structures and other embassy facilities.

Kathmandu, Nepal

WMC provided civil engineering and construction administration services for embassy complex in Kathmandu, Nepal.  This complex  includes a main chancery, three Compound Access Control structures, a Marine  Security Guard Quarters, and a utility building.  Civil engineering services  included design of the site layout, grading plans, utility layout, routing  plans, and utility capacity reviews.

 New Consular Office Building and US Embassy
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

This new consular office building and U.S. embassy project consisted of a two-story, 23,680 sq ft consulate and a 3,229 sq ft support building on a portion of the former US Embassy Compound.  The consulate is one of the largest visa processing centers in the world.
 
WMC provided complete site review and consultation services for a major expansion of the U.S. Embassy's New Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.

Consultation services included site work associated with the parking area expansions,  rehabilitation, resurfacing and details of all existing pavement areas, grading and drainage investigation and remediation of existing problem areas and adjacent to the expanded facilities, and utility review with associated details.

 Luanda, Angola

WMC was involved in the redevelopment of the existing U.S. Embassy compound  in Luanda, Angola.  The 1.6-acre site is prominently located in the Miramar  residential neighborhood overlooking the city and the Atlantic Ocean.  WMC  provided complete site review and  consultation services for a major expansion of  the U.S. Embassy, Angola.  Consultation services included sitework associated  with the parking area expansions, rehabilitation, resurfacing and details of all  existing pavement areas, grading and drainage investigation and remediation of  existing problem areas and adjacent to the expanded facilities, and utility  review with associated details.

FBI - Field Office
San Juan, Puerto Rico

WMC is providing civil engineering services for a new FBI Field Office located on additional six acres of land adjoining the existing FBI complex in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  The project involves the development of an office building, technical services annex, and parking garage.

Due to the nature of this project certain details must remain confidential.

US Chancery and Annex Building
Helsinki, Finland

This project involved various site improvements associated with additions and renovations to the chancery and Annex building at the US embassy compound in Helsinki, as well as addition of a new secure entrance (CAC) and a small utility building. WMC provided site improvements consisting of an expanded and renovated parking lot, extending a new service drive, providing for a new pedestrian link between the chancery and Annex (with grading to accommodate) and general landscape (planting) improvements.

WMC provided complete site review and consultation services for a major expansion of the U.S. Chancery in Albania.

CentralUS Embassy - UUUS Embassy - Central US Embassy - Central Warehouse
Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

The US Embassy Housing compound in Ashghabat, Turkmenistan, was acquired in 1993. This compound was a 'green grass site' located on the outskirts of Ashgabat in an area established by the host country as diplomatic enclave. Since then, Ministry Guesthouses, hotels, and a new national museum were constructed in the area.   WMC assisted in the construction of a central warehouse which involved demolition of existing curbs gutters and walkways, site preparation and replacement. Flood protection, erosion control, stormwater drainage, sanitary sewerage, utilities, and landscaping where all addressed.

CentralUS Embassy - UUUS Embassy - Central Frankfurt Airport
Frankfurt, Germany

WMC studied US Air Force operations at the Frankfurt Airport to determine if a large facility for the State Department could be located within the airfield operations area.  WMC analyzed pavement conditions, topography, utility infrastructure, taxiways, runways, flight paths, and security areas to identify potential complications with each proposed site.  Extensive field measurements were conducted including surveying, utility verifications, and record research.

FBI –Office Renovation
San Juan, Puerto Rico

WMC was part of the design team for the office renovation of a FBI facility in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  WMC’s main role on the design team was to determine the site impacts for the design of two ramps on the site.  A vehicular and handicap ramp were design to connect the existing pavement to  the face of the building.  Only half of the office was renovated and the parking lot was not impacted by the design.
