WMC participated in the design and construction of the new Swedish embassy in Washington DC, housed in a dramatic new 85,000 sq ft building situated at the convergence of the Potomac River and Rock Creek in Georgetown.  WMC provided civil engineering services to include First and Second Stage Condominium Plat and Plans for this project.  The site had many difficult constraints to address as part of the sitework design and involved extensive meetings with the relevant District of Columbia review agencies to resolve.

The Nigerian Embassy establishes a monumental presence in the center of a diplomatic enclave.  Expressive of traditions very different from the west, the curved entrance façade is composed of hewn stone culminating in a glass tower marking the building entrance.  WMC provided civil engineering services, including below-grade parking and support areas for this embassy located in Washington, DC's International Center. 

Chinese Embassy Chancery

Chinese Embassy Chancery & Staff Residence –2300 and 2310 Connecticut Avenue, NW

WMC is participating in this project involving the construction of the Chinese Embassy Chancery in the Sheridan-Kalorama Historic District on lots that currently contain two existing adjacent buildings at 2300 and 2310 Connecticut Avenue, NW. The new 9-story chancery/apartment building will house embassy staff and will serve as a non public annex to its primary Chancery building.

This new building is located in the heart of Washington, DC's Embassy Row.  The design for the Turkish Chancery locates most of the building's mass within the contours of the steeply sloped site.  WMC provided all site and utility coordination with personnel from the Chancery and the District.  Stormwater Management design which included complete hydrologic and volumetric design was coordinated with DC soils Resources Branch.  Cuts of about 32 to 53 feet were required to reach the lowest floor which required significant underpinning and shoring for the existing adjoining dwellings and pubic utilities.

US Embassy Nepal

WMC provided civil engineering and construction administration services for this $67 million design-build embassy complex in Kathmandu, Nepal.  This complex includes a main chancery, three Compound Access Control structures, a Marine Security Guard Quarters, and a utility building.  Civil engineering services included design of the site layout, grading plans, utility layout, routing plans, and utility capacity reviews. 

US Embassy Angola

WMC was involved in the redevelopment of the existing U.S. Embassy compound in Luanda, Angola.  The 1.6-acre site is prominently located in the Miramar residential neighborhood overlooking the city and the Atlantic Ocean.  WMC provided complete site review and consultation services for a major expansion of the U.S. Embassy, Angola.  Consultation services included sitework associated with the parking area expansions, rehabilitation, resurfacing and details of all existing pavement areas, grading and drainage investigation and remediation of existing problem areas and adjacent to the expanded facilities, and utility review with associated details.

WMC is providing civil engineering services to renovate, rehabilitate and update three of the four buildings on the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany’s 4 acre site. WMC’s scope of services for this project includes site design, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, utiliites and environmental impact screening.
